VINTAGE
The 2015 growing season started early in Napa Valley. As California entered its fourth year of drought, we were fortunate to receive spring rains sufficient to fill our reservoir and saturate the soil. Consistent sun and warmth throughout the growing season led to an early crop of high-quality grapes.
WINEMAKING
Our Sangiovese Riserva is selected from our finest barrels and only in outstanding vintages. A wine of great depth and concentration - true to its Italian heritage and its Napa Valley terroir.
Made with 50% of the Brunellone clone and 50% of the Col D’Orcia clone, the grapes are hand-picked and gently sorted before destemming without crushing the berries. We adjust our cap management techniques—punchdowns and pumpovers—to get the desired structure and color without overextraction. It then gets extended barrel aging in French oak.
TASTING NOTES
This fruit bomb captivates with blueberry, sandalwood and cedar aromas. The rich texture is satiny, reminiscent of molten chocolate. It is elegant and balanced, with notes of cherry, cocoa and a hint of tobacco. The long finish is complex and compels another sip.
PAIRINGS
Enjoy with tagliarini in a porcini cream sauce, gnocchi with a sage and butter sauce or roast lamb with rosemary and garlic.
