VINTAGE
The 2022 vintage is being hailed as “the tale of two harvests,” a testament to the year’s distinctive conditions and remarkable outcomes. Napa Valley grape growers, accustomed to adapting to climate variability, faced unprecedented challenges, including a five-day heatwave in September followed abruptly by rain that temporarily halted the harvest. The typically measured pace between white and red wine harvests vanished, replaced by a whirlwind of activity until the rain provided a brief respite. Grapes that remained on the vine through October benefited from mild, temperate weather, achieving optimal ripeness. The red wines from 2022 exhibit exceptional structure, deep color, opulent tannins, and exquisite fruit-driven aromatics. 

WINEMAKING
Our Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of clones 4, 6, and 30, which bring depth to the finished wine. In the winery we handle the fruit gently, destemming without crushing the berries. We adjust our cap management techniques—punchdowns and pumpovers—to get the desired structure and color without overextraction.

TASTING NOTES
Bold and rich, this Cabernet exhibits compelling aromas of blackberry, vanilla, clove, and allspice.  On the palate, it shouts out with plum preserves, dark chocolate, dried figs, and exotic spice layers, finishing with an epically long, lingering and wonderfully nuanced perfume.  This wine can be enjoyed now, but has the structure to further develop in your cellar for 10-15 years.

PAIRINGS
While this can pair with many dishes, the ultimate pairing would be for the king of all steaks--Bistecca Alla Fiorentina (Florentine Steak) with Butter and Fresh Herbs.
