VINTAGE
The 2024 growing season benefited from heavy winter rains, which replenished soil moisture and supported healthy vine growth throughout the year. This provided a solid foundation for the vines, particularly during the heat spikes, with temperatures exceeding 100°F for over 40 days. The natural canopy provided vital shade, protecting the fruit during these challenging heat events. Rather than relying on extra irrigation, our vineyard team carefully managed the vines, tailoring care to meet their specific needs. With strong relationships and clear communication across the community, we navigated the season's conditions successfully. The 2024 vintage at Benessere Vineyards saw yields that were generally above average, resulting in wines with deep color, bold flavors, and the hallmark elegance of Napa Valley.
WINEMAKING
Strategy is key when beginning the process of creating our Montepulciano Rosato. The first step in this well thought out process is planning a 2–3-week early harvest for these grapes. This very purposeful timing is what captures the vibrancy and liveliness that encapsulates our Rosato. From here a meticulous and gentle pressing cycle draws out the lovely juice that is the keystone of this wine. The fermentation that follows is a purposefully gradual journey, done at cool temperatures to ensure the wine's brilliant aromatics remain intact. By taking such a meticulous winemaking approach, our commitment to crafting an Montepulciano Rosato that is the embodiment of brilliance and levity is realized.
TASTING NOTES
The first Montepulciano Rosato produced in Napa Valley, this 2024 release is vivid and expressive. Aromas of wild strawberry, bubblegum, and rose water lead into a palate both textural and taut. Red berry fruit is framed by refreshing acidity and a gentle mineral thread, finishing with subtle grip and savory tension. A striking, food-worthy rosé that honors Montepulciano’s bold character while delivering freshness and finesse.
PAIRINGS
Ideal with Grilled Shrimp, Prosciutto and Melon, Niçoise Salad, or a simple Margherita Pizza on a warm day.
